In the early spring on the BC Coast the grizzlies wake up. In Toba Inlet you see them regularly wandering the beaches for a meal. Mussels are one of their favorites, but they will eat oysters and like fresh beach grass. The beach is where they forage as it is too early in the year for their more normal foods.
The picture on the left is a typical beach grizzly and you can see them up and down the inlet. This one is a bit skinny as he must have just woken up from his winter nap. He will fill out quickly eating his beach buffet. The bear on the right is one of my images that was inspired by the Grizzlies of Toba.
